Comment Policy

Pine Tar and Pocket Protectors has some standards and guidelines that we ask all readers abide by. They are outlined below:

1. No Chatspeak

The occasional “LOL” is fine, but try to keep the chatspeak limited. We make an effort to make all comments readable to you, so try to make an effort to make your comments readable to everyone else.

2. No Politics

This is a baseball website, and I assume that everyone who posts here, comes here to discuss baseball, so just don’t do it. Anyone who engages in bashing of a party or a politician, whether it be a joke or not, will be banned immedietly.

3. No Trolling

And no exceptions. If you don’t know what trolling is, the Urban Dictionary explains it perfectly:

Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it’s the internet and, hey, you can.”

4. No Unwarranted Hostility

Attacking an argument is allowed – attacking a person, is not. Not everyone is going to agree with you, and that’s alright; that doesn’t mean that they’re a bad person. I’m going to take an example from one of my favorite blogs, U.S.S Mariner:

Pretend that you are arguing with an umpire.

“You blew that call, he was safe by a mile.” = Okay
“You blow.” = Ejected

5. Cite Your Sources

If you’re going to copy a snippet from an article, give the author credit. Plagiarism is not cool.

That’s about it for now, we could edit this list in the future, and if that is the case, we will link you to this page letting you know.
